   Management and Medication

The chickenpox vaccine, usually between the ages of 12 to 15 months, is a safe, effective way to prevent chickenpox and its possible complications.

Symptoms usually go away without special treatments.

For healthy children, treatment mainly consists of easing the symptoms while the immune system clears the virus from the body. The patient usually stays at home because there is no actual cure of the condition.

People with long-term diseases or other health problems may need antiviral treatment for chickenpox.
