There is no cure for the common cold. However, some approaches may help easy
symptoms of the cold. The most popular are:
• Getting some rest;
• Drinking fluids;
• Taking over- the-counter pain or cold medicines;
• Pain relievers for headache or fever;
• Warm, salt water gargling for sore throat ; and
• Chicken soup (used for treating common colds since the 12th century).
Some medicines are not advised for children under six.
