Treatment


 
    Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)
It is the standard treatment that helps the body fight infection and preventing coronary artery aneurysm. Children with Kawasaki disease require hospital care. Treatment should be started as soon as the diagnosis is made to prevent damage to the heart.
   Salicylate therapy
It includes the use of aspirin. However, this therapy is questioned by some specialists, mainly due to its association with Reye's syndrome.
   Corticosteroids

It has been an option when other treatments fail. However, its use is very limited because is associated with increased risk of coronary artery aneurysm.
